Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check first went through Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Imran Khan’s official social media accounts on X to see if they have shared such an image as the former premier remains completely out of the public eye. Neither of the accounts had shared the visual under investigation, leading to the possibility of the picture being manipulated or AI-generated.
Soch Fact Check ran the picture through Image Whisperer, an AI-generated content detection tool. According to its verdict, the image is AI-generated. It provided the following details to support its result:
“The image exhibits significant noise and a lack of fine detail, consistent with a low-light capture or heavy compression. The lighting appears somewhat inconsistent, with harsh shadows in some areas and a general dimness. Edge quality around the subject is soft, and there are noticeable compression artifacts throughout the image.”
The detector also noted in its “Photo Authenticity” section that the image is “possibly AI-generated.” It added: “The lighting is dramatic but somewhat artificial, and the overall texture of the image, particularly around the subject’s face and clothing, suggests a digital creation or heavy manipulation rather than a candid photograph. The composition, while impactful, feels staged.”

Soch Fact Check also ran the picture through SynthID, Google’s tool to watermark and identify content generated through AI, to further confirm the previous tool’s findings. It confirmed that the image was made with Google AI, and expressed “high confidence” in its result.

To further confirm the results, Soch Fact Check uploaded the picture on Undetectable AI, a software built to detect AI-generated image and text by tech entrepreneur Christian Perry, who is also the CEO of Truth Scan.
It also flagged the image as AI-generated as it detected “low image quality.”

Results by the detection tools confirm that the image of Imran Khan sitting on a praying mat is likely AI-generated.
