Claim: An image shows Mia Khalifa delivering a lecture at Shah Latif University in Khairpur.
Fact: The photograph is from Mia Khalifa’s talk at the Oxford Union.
On 25 May 2023, a Facebook page called Khairpur Waley shared an image claiming to show Mia Khalifa delivering a lecture at Shah Latif University in Khaipur. The image had a Jaan Lo watermark in the middle.
Fact or Fiction?
Through reverse image search tools, we found that the image is of a key frame of a video of Mia Khalifa delivering a talk at the Oxford Union on 16 May 2023. We found this video uploaded on the Oxford Union’s official YouTube channel. The Oxford Union Society, commonly referred to simply as the Oxford Union, is a debating society in the city of Oxford, England, whose membership is drawn primarily from the University of Oxford.
We also found that this image was first shared one week ago, on 22 May 2023, on Jaan Lo TV’s Instagram page with the text: “Mia Khalifa was invited to Deliver a Lecture at Oxford University.” A comparison of the two images shows that the image shared on Facebook edited the text “Shah Latif University Khaipur Mirs” on top of the text “Oxford University.”
We found no announcements regarding a guest lecture by Mia Khalifa, issued by the university on its website.
Virality
We found another version of this image on Facebook, in which the image had been edited to say “University of Karachi”. The original claim can be found here.
Conclusion: Mia Khalifa was not invited to lecture at Shah Latif University in Khaipur.
