About Us:
Soch Fact Check is an independent and dynamic fact-checking organisation dedicated to promoting truth and accuracy in the media and public discourse. We are proud to be the only local organisation in Pakistan that is a member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and a partner in Meta’s Third-Party Fact-Checking program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifying Misinformation: Monitor social media platforms, news outlets, and other sources to identify false news, misinformation, and disinformation trends.
- Claim Verification: Utilise online tools, databases, and investigative techniques to verify claims and assess their credibility.
- On-the-Ground Research: Conduct field reporting and in-depth research to substantiate or debunk stories.
- Article Production: Write clear, engaging, and well-researched weekly fact-check articles to inform and educate our audience.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of journalism experience; investigative reporting experience is preferred.
- Start-Up Experience: Experience working at a start-up or dynamic team environment is preferred.
- Language Skills: Strong command over written and spoken English and Urdu; working knowledge of another regional language is a plus.
- Social Media Expertise: Understanding of disinformation networks and how misinformation spreads across multiple social media platforms.
- Research and Writing: Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough research and produce compelling, unbiased and evidence-based articles.
- Cultural Insight: Deep understanding of Pakistan’s political and cultural landscape.
- Education: An undergraduate degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
