Claim: Geo News reported that a new mobile application called ‘mizmaxs’ allows you to earn PKR 1,200 as soon as you download it and you can keep earning more from that point. The report also claims that you can earn money every 4 minutes if you have a phone with a touchscreen.
Fact: Geo News has not reported on ‘mizmaxs’ and the news bulletins were doctored to scam people into downloading an app which is neither available on Google Play nor on the Apple App Store.
On 28 January 2025, social media user @happymaaz45 shared a reel showing a Geo News bulletin claiming to announce an app called ‘mizmaxs’ to be able to earn money for free. The claim is shared in several reels, published from June 2024 till today.
A transcript of the audio used to dub the Geo News bulletins is reproduced below:
“Congratulations to all of you, in our most recent update we are making a big and happy announcement. Congratulations to all mobile users, a great news has been announced for all the people who use mobile phones. The best and happiest thing about it is that you don’t have to spend a single rupee on this application. This is the application which has been introduced. As soon as you install this application and create an account, you will get this payment as a reward and apart from that you can earn a good amount of money every month from this application and receive payments in your Easypaisa, Jazzcash or any other bank accounts. So search this on Google and do not give any space between the two words when searching them, click this first link which has been circled and install the application.”
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check reached out to Manzar Elahi Turk, Editor Digital at Geo News, who confirmed that the publication never reported on the claim, saying, “The video is doctored. Geo News never posted or ran this story on any of its platforms.”
Mismaxs is not available to download on Google Play or Apple’s App Store. It is also worth mentioning that the app is being advertised by five dedicated Instagram accounts @happymaaz45 @tipstech21 @officialsreviews @mizmaxs and @techofficials1 through what seems to be coordinated inauthentic behaviour.
These accounts appear to have been created for the sole purpose of advertising this app. Instagram user @happymaaz45 shared his first scam video on 20 April 2024, where he claims that if a person spends 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening on the mobile app then they will be able to earn PKR 1,800 every day, without any investment and by engaging in ‘mining’. While he seems to allude to cryptomining, the video only shows the app mentioned in the claim.
After a few other videos, he shared the claim again on 2 June 2024. Since then he has posted a similar video, advertising the scam every single day, sometimes even twice a day, taking some breaks in between.
The same scam app is also advertised through Instagram reels falsely claiming to guide social media users to apply for a visa in Germany, England, USA, Spain and other countries. These videos have garnered more than 2.5 million views on Instagram.
Virality
On Instagram, we found the claim shared extensively, in a coordinated campaign. The reels on only one of these Instagram accounts have been viewed more than 10.6 million times.

In one of the posts, a person, who seems to be publishing these posts, appears at the beginning of the video.
Conclusion: The Mismaxs mobile application is a scam. Geo News did not report on this app on their news bulletin.
