On 24 June 2022, an image started circulating on social media, particularly on Facebook and Twitter, with the claim that it depicts the design of a new PKR 75 note which will be issued on Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day coming up on 14 August 2022.
As per media reports, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was considering printing polymer banknotes and issuing them to mark the country’s 75th independence day but the federal government rejected the proposal for polymer notes and directed that the State Bank should get the commemorative banknotes printed in the country.
Moreover, in a Twitter statement, SBP clarified that the image circulating on various social media platforms is fake.
