Claim: Video circulating on social media allegedly shows Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi kissing.
Fact: The claim is false as the video was created using artificial intelligence (AI).
On 11 December 2024, a reel (archive) was posted on Facebook with the caption,
ویڈیو لگانا میرا کام تھا اب وائرل کرنا آپ کا کام ہے
[Translation: It was my job to post the video, now it’s your job to make it viral]
The video received more engagement on social media in February 2025 leading Soch Fact Check to investigate it. It shows Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Khan, commonly known as ‘Bushra Bibi,’ sitting and kissing each other.
Women politicians in Pakistan are consistently targeted with disinformation campaigns which can endanger their safety. Soch Fact Check has previously debunked similar AI-generated videos and photos here, here and here.
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check analysed the video and found it has all the signs of generative AI.
Upon closer inspection, we noted that Gandapur’s hands and facial movements are unnatural just before he embraces Bushra Bibi. His hair appears airbrushed. Strangely, Bushra Bibi maintains the veil or “pardah”, and her face is not visible in the video as well.
The background behind both of them seems airbrushed which is another sign of generative AI.
To investigate further, we reverse-searched the video’s keyframes that led us to an article published by ARY News on 8 December 2024. The article, titled “Gandapur rebuffs Bushra Bibi claims to left her alone”, features an image where both of them look identical to how they appear in the viral video. We suspect that this image was likely used as a base to generate the AI video in the claim.
We also noticed a small watermark at the bottom-right corner of the viral video which reads “MiniMax Hailuo AI”. After searching for the word on Google, we found that MiniMax (Hailuo) is an innovative AI video generation model that allows users to create high-definition videos from text descriptions or images.
Soch Fact Check, therefore, concludes that the video in the claim is AI-generated, and was likely created using the picture published in the ARY News article.
Virality
The viral video on Facebook garnered 42,000 likes, 1,200 comments and 8,700 shares. In other posts, shared here and here, the video received 3 million views.
It was also shared here (archive) on TikTok.
Conclusion: The video of CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi kissing each other is AI-generated.
