Fact or Fiction?
On 4 November 2022, Facebook page Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz shared a video claiming that it shows Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan walking inside SKMCH Lahore after he survived an attack in Wazirabad.
The page also questioned how Khan is able to walk after being hit by four bullets and with a cast on both of his legs.
Soch Fact Check found the claim to be misleading after searching a screenshot of the video with Google Lens. The search led us to a YouTube video titled, “Prime Minister Imran Khan Visits Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital” from 6 August 2021. The video has been shared by Siasat.pk’s official YouTube account.
We then used some keywords on Google and found that Dunya News carried a report about the visit. According to the article, the then prime minister Imran Khan visited SKMCH in Peshawar to inaugurate the newly established operating room suite and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Khan also tweeted about his visit. The same video can also be found on Shaukat Khanum’s verified Twitter account.
The PTI chief was wounded after a man opened fire on his container at Allahwala Chowk in Wazirabad, Punjab on 3 November during the ‘Haqeeqi Azadi’ march.
The SKMCH management had told Soch Fact Check in an interview that Khan was brought on a stretcher to the hospital and underwent a surgery on the same day. He was later discharged on 6 November with a cast around his leg.
