Claim: A photo allegedly depicts a pro-PTI demonstration held in Kashmir following the recent ouster of PTI leader Imran Khan from the office of prime minister.
Fact: The picture is not from a recent PTI rally in Kashmir but in fact dates back to 5 December 2019, when people in Kashmir, especially in old Srinagar, took out rallies in support of Imran Khan for a then-PM’s Kashmir focused speech at the UN General Assembly.
On 10 April 2022, a picture was shared by Muhammad Ahmad Chattha on his Facebook page with the caption, “بھارتی مقبوضہ کشمیر میں بھی عوام کا عمران خان کے حق میں مظاہرہ یہ مظاہرے عدم اعتماد کی تحریک کامیاب ھونے کے بعد کیے جا رھے ہیں [Demonstrations in favor of Imran Khan in Indian Occupied Kashmir are also being held after the success of the no-confidence motion].” The post claims that the image depicts people in Kashmir carrying out demonstrations in support of Imran Khan after his ouster.
Fact or Fiction:
Soch Fact Check found the claim to be false. A Google Reverse Image Search revealed that the picture was shared in a 5 December 2019 article by TRT World about pro-Imran Khan rallies held in Kashmir, especially old Srinagar, following the then-PM’s Kashmir focused speech at the UN General Assembly in September 2019.
Upon closer examination, the date “4/10/2019” can be seen on two of the posters visible in the image, further confirming that the image dates back to 2019.
