On 11 February 2022, the same claim was shared by Facebook page Ch Naeem Haider Panjutha Official.
The clip was then picked up by multiple pages, including here, here, here and here. The claim was posted on Facebook by multiple groups as well, including, here, here, and here, among others.
Most of these accounts shared the one minute and nine second clip, with the same captions:
- “چین نے پہلی خاتون انسانی پلاسٹک تیار کی ہے۔ بہت ذہین. صرف ایک چیز اس کے پاس نہیں ہے وہ ہے روح”
[China has developed the first ever female human plastic, very intelligent. It doesn’t have one thing, soul]
- “China has produced the first female human plastic. Very intelligent. The only thing she doesn’t have is “soul”. End time is indeed knocking on the doors and loading!”
Soch Fact Check found the claims about the video to be false. The clip, in fact, is a promotional video for the 2018 adventure video game Detroit: Become Human, developed by Quantic Dream.
Soch Fact Check used Google Reverse Image Search to determine the origins of the video and came across a tweet by Detroit: Become Human’s official Twitter account. The tweet reads, “Meet Chloe, the very first personal assistant android built by Cyberlife. In 2022, this model was also the first one to pass the Turing Test.”
The tweet dates back to 23 May 2018 and contains a link to a YouTube video of an interview with Chloe, where the android is responding to questions posed by a journalist from KNC, a new channel in the world of Detroit: Become Human. During the interview, Chloe talks about being the first personal assistant built by Cyberlife, her everyday tasks, clearing the Turing test, being designed by humans and not having a soul.
In investigating the origins of the video, Soch Fact Check also found that a longer version of the same video was shared on YouTube by Izuniy. That video is titled, “DETROIT BECOME HUMAN – Chloe and The Interview Shorts PS4 (2018).”
Between 0:10 and 1:19, Chloe can be heard saying exactly the same things as in the shorter version of the video doing the rounds on social media.
The short film titled “Chloe” was shared as part of the promotional build-up ahead of the game’s release exclusively for PS4 on 25 May 2018. It provides an insight into the futuristic world of humans and androids that the full game explores.
