Claim: A video shows a huge crowd in London protesting against Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir during his recent visit to the United Kingdom.
Fact: The claim is misleading because the video is from November 2024 and is actually from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protest in Brescia, Italy.
On 20 February 2025, an X account, appearing to be a PTI supporter, posted a video (archive) with the caption,
Translation [Pakistanis in London strongly protesting against Army Chief Asim Munir’s visit to the country. Pakistanis living all over the world are outraged by the ongoing human rights violations in Pakistan].
The video shows a huge crowd waving PTI flags and marching on the street from an aerial view, suggesting it was shot from a flyover bridge.
The claim was shared after General Asim Munir visited the UK to attend the 7th Regional Stabilisation Conference at the Royal Military Academy. His official visit concluded on 20 February, and during the trip, he was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the historic Royal Horse Guards Parade Ground in London’s St James’ Park.
In addition to his participation in the conference, General Munir engaged in discussions with senior UK officials, including Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Tony Radakin, British Army Chief General Sir Roland Walker, National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell, and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper. The meetings focused on enhancing security cooperation and addressing the two countries’ mutual interests.
Fact or Fiction?
To investigate, Soch Fact Check conducted a reverse-image search on the video’s keyframes. The results led to an Instagram post by journalist Ihtisham ul Haq, shared on 25 November 2024. According to the caption of the post, the video shows, “PTI protest in Italy 🇮🇹📍#PTI #Italy #ImranKhan”.
The same video was also posted by PTI Punjab’s official Facebook page on 25 November 2024, along with the caption:
“ PTI Italy – Brescia.
A Huge protest was demonstrated by PTI Italy in Brescia. Pakistani’s from all over Italy joined and showed support for Imran Khan and voiced against the worst human rights abuses in Pakistan.
#FinalCall #HistoryInMaking”.
Iranian news organisation Tehran Times also posted the same video on X on 25 November 2025, linking it to PTI’s protest in Italy.
Taking cues from this, Soch Fact Check did a reverse search on the buildings shown in the background of the video. The results yielded images published by a website Sketch up Textures, featuring architecture across Italy. An image of a similar building can be found on the website.
A further search showed similar images of the same building, including one we found on stock image website Alamy and another on the architectural website Inail. Both sources reiterate that the building is located in Brescia, northern Italy.
A view of the street on Google Maps, where the building is located, also confirms that the place is indeed in Italy, and the video in the claim is not from the Army Chief’s recent visit to the UK.
Virality
On X the video received 129k views, 16,000 likes and 6,400 comments.
It was also shared on Facebook here and here.
Conclusion: The video does not show a crowd in London protesting against the Army Chief General Asim Munir’s recent visit to the UK. The video is, in fact, from PTI’s protest that was held in Italy in November 2024.
