Claim: Ali Amin Gandapur said that Imran Khan is unhappy with provincial earnings not being directed to Bani Gala.
Fact: Gandapur has made no such statement. The voice in the video is dubbed and does not belong to Gandapur. The video of him is originally from a press conference on curbing terrorism and countering sectarianism in Pakistan.
On 21 February 2025, a post on Facebook shared a video of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur saying that Imran Khan was unhappy that provincial earnings were not being directed to Bani Gala. The caption of the post reads as follows in Urdu:
خان کو غصہ اس بات کا صوبے کی ساری کمائی بنی گالہ کیوں نہیں جا رہی لیکن ایسا کبھی نہیں ہو گا”
“چور اعلیٰ گنڈا پوری کا انکشاف
According to Google Translate, this reads as follows in English:
“Khan is angry as to why all the earnings of the province are not going to Bani Gala, but this will never happen.
The revelation of the ultimate thief Gandapuri.”
Fact or Fiction?
To investigate this claim, Soch Fact Check searched Google for the phrase “Gandapur Imran Khan provincial Bani Gala”. However, we did not find any relevant results to substantiate the claim.
Soch Fact Check then conducted a reverse-image search of the key frames of the video. This led us to an article in The News dated 28 January 2025. The article included a photo of Gandapur, identical to the key frames of the video. It showed Gandapur sitting on a white sofa with three flags in the background and a basket of flowers in front of him. According to its caption, the image shows Gandapur speaking in a “consultative meeting on 27 January 2025.”
The Chief Minister hosted a “consultative meeting” on “creating a comprehensive national policy to combat terrorism, sectarianism, ethnic division, and lawlessness, ensuring the rule of law across the country,” The News reported.
Taking this as a cue, we searched for the meeting on YouTube with the keywords “Ali Amin Gandapur terrorism meeting”. This led us to a video posted by the official channel of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) titled “CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur Important Press Conference”. In the footage, Gandapur addresses a press conference on the need to form a policy regarding combating terrorism and sectarian divides in the country, particularly in the wake of violence in Kurram.
However, nowhere in the video does Gandapur say that Imran Khan is unhappy about provincial earnings not being directed to Bani Gala.
Moreover, after comparing it to the original footage of the press conference on YouTube, it is clear that the voice in the video in the claim is not Gandapur’s own. The video was likely dubbed as the voiceover and Gandapur’s lip movements do not align either.
Thus, Soch Fact Check rates the claim as false
Virality
On Facebook, the video has garnered 219 K views.
On X, the video was shared here.
Conclusion: Ali Amin Gandapur did not say that Imran Khan was unhappy with provincial earnings not being directed to Bani Gala. A video of him making the statement is dubbed with a voice that does not resemble Gandapur’s actual voice either. Moreover, there is no credible evidence to substantiate that Gandapur ever made such a statement.
