On 24 August 2024, the Facebook Famous Pulse posted an image (archive) of Abhishek and Aishwarya. The image contains text reading, “Abhisheikh Has Confirmed His Divorce From Aishwaria After 17 Years Of Marriage Their Daughter Will Not Be Residing With The Bachan Family”. The post’s caption is the same as the text in the image and has garnered 14.6 million views.
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check searched the official media accounts of the actor for any posts or statements confirming the divorce but failed to find any. Additionally, no mainstream news outlet or credible report confirming the news of the divorce was found.
Recently there have been multiple claims regarding the actor’s divorce including a viral AI video of Abhishek announcing it. In the video, he is filmed saying, “This July, Aishwarya and I have decided to get divorced.” However, this video has been debunked by multiple outlets including Dunya News, Times of India, and Economic Times.
While Soch Fact Check failed to find any posts regarding the divorce, we found reports of Abhiskeh liking a post discussing late-in-life divorce. The liked post was on Instagram and was written by journalist and special correspondent for The Indian Express, Heena Khandelwal. The post centered an article on divorce she had written and was captioned, “Divorce is never easy for anyone. Who doesn’t dream of a happily ever after or envision recreating those heartwarming videos of elderly couples holding hands as they cross the street? Yet, sometimes life doesn’t unfold as we hoped. But how do people cope when they separate after decades together, after spending a significant portion of their lives relying on each other for both big and small things?” Barring this like there has been no social media activity from the actor indicating a divorce announcement.
Regarding the second half of the claim, Soch Fact Check conducted a keyword search and checked credible outlets but failed to find any reports or announcements regarding the actor’s daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, and her living situation. This claim is also not the first time the Bachchan family’s living situation has been discussed. Back in December 2023, in the latest report regarding living arrangements, the Times of India confirmed that both Aishwarya and Aaradhya were living with the Bachchan family.
